CHECKLIST FOR 16-24 years old THAT TOOK THE 32 HOUR TEEN COURSE



Bring EVERYTHING listed below for your On-The-Road Test. 

1.  Texas Provisional License with B restriction. Must not be expired!

2.  Testing students Ages 18 – 24 and 11 months that have completed the 6 hour adult course and received a Texas Adult Driver Education Certificate (ADE-1317). This certificate needs to be turned into the DPS to receive the permit.

(STUDENTS 25 + can skip this step)

3. PAYMENT -CASH ONLY, PLEASE CALL FOR PRICES OR SEND AN EMAIL

4. Social Security Card  - Original only

5. Two Proofs of Residency,   
You will NEED 2 ; they can be either in the students name, parents name, or one of each. The person/parent taking your student to the DPS will need to be the one to show proof of residency  - in their name.

6. You must provide a vehicle for the driving test and meet the following requirements:  
-Show PRINTED proof of current liability insurance for vehicle, electronic insurance will not be accepted. 
-Student testing DOES NOT have to be listed on insurance
-Have a current inspection sticker/ registration up to date
-Two License plates (front/back) or temporary tags
-Working Horn 
-4 working turns signals and three working break lights.

7. IMPACT TEXAS CERTIFICATE for Young Drivers
-YOU MUST COMPLETE the online video class and print Certificate before you take DPS ROAD TEST 
-The IMPACT Certificate is obtained by watching the video here; 
https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/ITYD/    
-When registering, please pick  COMMERCIAL  and type in  SAFE START DRIVING SCHOOL     OR  enter the program you did your 6 hour class with.
-Must be completed within 90 DAYS of your On The Road Test * Certificate  EXPIRES IN 90 DAYS
-Once you complete the 3 lessons, a Certificate will be available to print  
​- PLEASE PRINT IN GOOD QUALITY or email to me and I will print it for you.
-The Certificate will be required to turn in when you take your On-The-Road Test

1.  Texas Learners Permit with B restriction. Must not be expired!

2.  Testing students Ages 16 – 24 and 11 months that have taken the 32 hour classroom, 44 hours of driving, and have held the permit for 6 months (the HOLD DATE is on the back of the permit gives you this last date, students 18+ can skip this step). 

3. PAYMENT -CASH ONLY, PLEASE CALL FOR PRICES OR SEND AN EMAIL

4. Texas Driver Education Certificate 

(DE-964): From a 32 hour class from a certified driving school (PT DE-964E) : From the Parent Taught program. 

4B. IF YOU DID the parent taught program, please make sure you have the OFFICIAL "Texas Drivers Education Certificate" with seal and control number on top right corner of certificate; not the white and gold "Certificate of Completion". Pictures of examples are below.

5.  Verification of Enrollment (VOE) Form (from your HS, it expires every 30 days), a HS diploma, or GED. If you are homeschooled, let me know and I can send you an additional form. ( If you are above 18, you can skip this requirement.)

6. 30 hour In-Car Practice Log
30 hours must be listed; 10 hours logged as night driving; 1 hour max per day can be logged. Print log form here:https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/driver/files/Texas%2030-Hour%20Behind-the-Wheel%20Log.pdf  -There is a box on your DE-964/ PT for parents to check off and sign/date when students are done with at home 30 hour log.
6B. IF YOU DID the parent taught program, you will have an additional two logs to prove you completed the program: 32 hours of classroom work log and 14 hours of driving with the curriculum log. If you need copies of these logs, let me know and I will send blank ones to you with instructions on how to fill them out.
